Art, Heart & Healing: week 2, part 1- wishes for little me

"Wishes for Little Me" by Artfully Carin

In week 2 of of Tam’s wonderful e-course Art, Heart & Healing we alter a board book in two parts. The first part involves creating an image transfer of our baby or toddler self and writing positive life wishes for this child self.

I loved making this page. I had never made image transfers before and really wanted to learn how to make them. It took me a good few attempts to get it though. My printer didn’t recognise the transparency paper  and it took me a while to get the hang of paper transfers. I had to try out a few different variations before I got one I was happy with. It was frustrating, but fun and addictive. I also loved using my new water soluble crayons for the background. And the healing exercise behind the page was very thought provoking and moving.

Can’t wait to try my hand at the whimsies we’re making for part 2 now!

  2. This is fantastic Carin – I had a real close look at what you’ve created. I love the grunge effect you’ve achieved with the crayons and paint – brilliant! The colours you’ve chosen are beautiful (those crayons are gorgeous, aren’t they? I can’t think how I managed without them!). Your transfer is fab, you got there in the end, and those wishes are so sweet. I really like how you put your transfer in a heart shape, that works really well. x

  3. Hi Carin! well, my studio does get unruly when I’m whizing through it creating….but I keep it tidy or I’d go nuts! and that’s the truth of it!
I love Tam and her art….just can never find the time to ‘join’ in on anything! it’s terrible…but I’m glad to see that you are enjoying yourself!

[…] Man, I continue to be completely bowled over by the amazing quality of the lessons of Tam’s free e-course Art, Heart & Healing. It’s just fantastic! For the second part of week 2 she taught us the basics of whimsies in an effort to turn around/ bring healing to a bad memory from the past. This went in the altered board book with the wishes for our toddler self. […]
