3 art journal pages from my week

I didn’t think I was going to have any art journal pages to show you this week, but suddenly found myself with some spare time this afternoon to finish off these ones (ta Kirby!).

"Gratitude Prayer" art journal page

Gratitude Prayer

I’m exhausted at the moment, and more than a little grouchy. As a result this poor man of mine gets his head bitten off more than he deserves. More than anyone deserves. So instead of grumbling, I wrote down all the things I am grateful for. There are plenty. And it was a much needed reminder. Then I painted, stamped and glued on top of it.

"The Wishing Tree" art journal

The wishing tree

When I was pregnant with Kirby, I kept playing with the idea of making a mixed media piece on canvas which I affectionately called the wishing tree. It would be a tree full of wishes for the new baby’s life, and a pram next to it. I even made a start on it, but didn’t get very far since I wanted to know the sex of the baby before I finished it. And since Kirby came along I just haven’t had the time (or the inclination). But, I was reminded of it when I made the tree for my Autumn to do list a while back, and decided to play around with it a little in my journal instead. I’m still hoping to return to the painting later.

You probably can’t see it, but I started by journaling all our hopes, dreams and wishes for Kirby. I later printed off key words from my writing to add to the tree as leaves.

For once I have journaled about all of the main people in my life. Good! They all deserve some time in the spotlight.
