bouncing back

bouncing back journal page

bouncing back detail

Hey lovelies,

Thank you so much for your sweet comments on my last post. I’m feeling much better now, even though I still have to take it a bit slow.

I’m back art journaling like crazy too, which must mean I’m feeling better. The deep need to write, write, write that had me up at 4.30 am almost every morning for weeks on end has calmed down a bit, but the things I realised about myself and the world through the writing continue to make themselves heard in my journal pages. So as I write, I have a production line of pages in various stages of completion going on the breakfast bar. I’m also being a bit braver, trying out new things and experimenting a bit more, which is a lot of fun. I’m one of those people who learn a new technique then use it to death for a while till I’ve learned it properly. There’s nothing wrong with that, but right now I feel a need to spice things up a bit for myself. The new techniques may not always be noticeable to you, but I will know that I’ve used them.

This page was made using water soluble crayons, acrylics, stamps, stencils, texture paste, scrapbook paper, oil pastels, pen, and a photograph of yours truly. My printer still prints photos in groovy 70’s shades of orange and pink, but I’m enjoying the challenge of making them work as they are, like I did in the fab four (people pay good money for filters like that!), or in black and white. One of these days I’ll figure out what’s wrong and go back to normal photos, but for now I’m making the most of it.

See you soon my friends.

  1. What a wonderful page you’ve made here, and I love the “making the most of it” part :). So glad to hear that you’re feeling better again. Being vulnerable does not mean to be whingey at all, and sometimes all we need is a hug and to be told that everything’s going to be okay, instead of being all strong and pretend that everything’s fine. Hope things will get better and better quickly, and I’m looking forward to see more of your pages!

  2. LOVE your journal page Carin… so creative and clever… and so happy that you are bouncing back and feeling much better… have a great week…

    Hugs
    Jenny x

Glad to hear that things are going well – and have fun this weekend in the studio – I was beginning to hate doing it for a while 😉
Oh, and great idea about a book post – I will have to do that, thank you! xoxo

    • Thank you Kristin! And so cool that you’re taking my idea on board. I managed to get out to the studio and do some more purging and boxing up at the weekend. I’m getting there, slowly. In the meantime, the kitchen is my friend.

  4. so glad you’re feeling better- this page is so much fun- what a playful page!
